What is Qigong

Qi “chee” is the life energy or power that exists in nature and all living things or objects in elemental form. Qi animates all forms of life including human beings powering every cell, tissue, and organ through a network system called meridians. The meridians connect internal organs.

Qi “chee” must be cleansed, captured and circulated freely throughout the body to promote health and sustain vitality. It is the very essence of life and the foundation of longevity.  

Gong “goong” means work or benefit of practice. Together the words “Qi” and “Gong” suggest energy cultivation or over a period of time and imply dedication to practice. 

Qigong is an ancient Chinese fitness practice that unifies specific body movements, breathing techniques and focused intention in order to circulate vital energy throughout the body. It is this unification of body, breath, and mind that creates the ideal internal environment facilitating communication between mind and body for an internal awareness of self and health that sets Qigong apart from traditional exercises.
